The Venue

The Matrix Conference 2026 will take place at Scandic Triangeln, in the heart of Malmö, Sweden.

We have partnered up with the hotel to provide attendees with the discount code PRO15SE, which gives 15% off the Flex offer plus free breakfast.

We strongly recommend staying in the city centre to enjoy the conference and socialise with other attendees in the evenings.

Online Experience

Matrix has a worldwide community of users, professionals, and hackers. We are excited to continue our tradition of running a hybrid conference, aiming to live stream and record all talks, and a real online participatory experience through Matrix chat rooms. You can find the previous year's recordings in our archive at 2025.matrix.org.

If you would like to attend, but cannot financially afford to travel, please reach out to us to see how we can support you.

Getting there

The address is: Scandic Triangeln, Triangeln 2, Radmansvangen, Malmö, Sweden.

Public Transportation

Malmö has an excellent public transport system, including buses and trains. The conference venue is a 3 minutes walk from the Triangeln train station and bus stop. It is serviced by trains of the Swedish Pågatåg network, the Öresundståg network connecting Malmö and Copenhagen, and bus lines 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 11, 15. A public transport map of the city is available as PDF.

The Skånetrafiken app is the best way to buy tickets and navigate the city. Bicycles and electric scooters are also popular for shorter distances. The app is available in English.

Download Skånetrafiken on the Apple App Store. Download Skånetrafiken on the Google Play Store.

By Train

The venue is located right in the city center of Malmö, about 3 minutes from the central station. We recommend traveling by train if you can, as the most sustainable and environmentally friendly way to travel. Riding a train also gives you th opportunity to meet other conference attendees, whether you coordinated ahead of time via chat or recognise each other by the Matrix stickers on your laptops while on the train.

By Plane

Malmö has an international airport (MMX), but flights tend to be less frequent and more expensive. An often better alternative is to fly to Copenhagen (CPH), Denmark, and take the train to Malmö.

The most common and efficient way to reach Malmö from Copenhagen is by train. Trains depart from Copenhagen Central Station (København H) every 20 minutes, with a travel time of about 35 minutes to Malmö Central Station. You can also take a direct train from Copenhagen Airport, which is convenient if you’re flying in. Remember to bring your passport, as border checks are conducted.

Good to Know

Sweden is part of the Schengen area, and so it is easy to travel there from many European countries. We recommend checking your origin country's travel advice. Also note that Sweden uses Swedish Crowns (SEK) and not Euro as currency.

We are happy to issue invitation letters and certificates of attendance. Please contact us at conference@foundation.matrix.org.

Where to Stay

The Matrix Conference is hosted at the Scandic Triangeln Hotel in the heart of Malmö. You may use the discount code PRO15SE when booking accommodation in one of Scandic's Malmö hotels. It offers a 15% discount on one or several days between 19th and 23rd October with the Flex offer, and includes free breakfast.

If you would like to attend, but cannot financially afford to travel, please reach out to us to see how we can support you. If you or your organisation is interested in supporting community attendance, please contact us.

Dietary Requirements

All meals and refreshments provided will cater to a wide variety of dietary needs and preferences clearly labelled with ingredients and allergen information at the event. This includes vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free food.

If you have specific food allergies or requirements, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Health, Safety and Accessibility

Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct of The Matrix.org Foundation applies during the event. We expect attendees, speakers, volunteers and staff to be excellent to each other.

Accessibility

The Matrix Conference will be wheelchair accessible. We are aiming to get live captioning in place, but it will mostly depend on the amount of support we get from sponsors. If you know organisations willing to help make the event more accessible, send them to our sponsors page!

Photo Policy

The choice of wanting to get your picture taken or not can play a big role in feeling comfortable attending an event. Our system allows you to indicate your preference by wearing your conference badge on a lanyard of either the Yes Photo or No Photo color. There will additionally be specifically indicated zones at the conference where photography is explicitly allowed or disallowed, for example our stages will generally be on camera for our livestream. Please keep this in mind when taking pictures, do not point your camera at anyone who is opting out, and review your photos before publishing them.

We are excited for the amazing pictures you will take. Please share them with us on socials using the hashtag #MatrixConf!

Vaccinations & rapid tests are encouraged

We encourage The Matrix Conference attendees to stay up to date with the vaccinations that are available to them where they live. We also encourage attendees to use rapid tests (antigen tests) before they arrive and while they are at the conference. The Foundation hopes, but may not be able, to supply rapid tests on-site. Please contact us if you can support us ensuring everyone's health.

Easy refunds

We expect people to stay home if they may be contagious. If you are feeling sick or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, or test positive for COVID-19, prior to the start of the conference, or on any day of the conference, please contact us at conference@foundation.matrix.org. We will exchange your ticket type for an online ticket or grant you a refund.

On-site attendees will be able to watch talks online while they recover, wait for the results of a COVID test or sort out any kind of unexpected allergy or “weird cold.”
